Wood Foundations:
Will
They Last?
After decades of testing, permanent wood foundations (PWFs) were
introduced in the late 1960s. They have been used successfully in over
400,000 homes throughout the USA and Canada.
Why doesn't the wood rot?
Simple: The treating process forces preservatives throughout the
cellular structure of the wood. This eliminates the food source necessary
for fungus (rot) to live.
All lumber used in Woodmaster Foundation Systems is
treated specifically for foundation applications. Foundation grade treated
lumber has a much higher preservative retention level than standard "deck
material" or treated landscape timbers. The life expectancy of lumber
treated to foundation grade specifications is well beyond 100 years.
Many commercial structures, such as the Empire State Building, Brooklyn
Bridge and even the Louisiana Superdome are supported on foundations of wood!
